You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

You are applying for a job and need a letter of reference from someone who knew you when you were at school.

Write a letter to one of your old teachers asking for a reference. In your letter:

  • say what job you have applied for

  • explain why you want this job

  • suggest what information the teacher should include

Write at least 150 word

You do NOT need to write any addresses

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear ...,

Student: Francesca from Italy Band Score: 6.5

Dear Victor,

How have you been over the past four years? We have not spoken since the end of my time at college. I am writing to you as I am applying for a new job and one of the requirements is a reference letter from the school.

As you can remember, I have been very passionate about hospitality and now I have a big opportunity to apply for an amazing position in the Four Seasons Hotel as an event manager.

Also, I really have the chance to step up in my career and once I become part of this international company I will have the opportunity to travel overseas and earn an exceptional salary.

The reference has to include the attendance of each year in the college, I also have to provide all the transcripts of my scores. This information has to have the logo of the institution.

If you can provide those documents within the next few days I would be very grateful.

Yours sincerely.

Francesca Italiana
