You recently had your computer fixed at a local computer store, however, you are not pleased with the service you received. write a letter to the store manager:

  • describe the situation

  • explain why you are dissatisfied

  • say what you want the manager to do

Write at least 150 words.

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

This question was provided by one of my Brazilian student Alan who took the test on Saturday the 10th of August 2019 in Sydney Australia. The sample answer was written by my other student from Colombia. Ilan needs 6.0 for his permanent visa application but his writing and speaking skills are quite strong. Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing you to complain about the poor quality of the service I received last Wednesday at the shop.

First of all, when I arrived, the person on shift was talking on the phone sitting down with her feet up on the counter, later I realised it was a personal call. She took a considerably long time to give me the attention I was looking for, despite the fact that she knew I was looking for assistance.

Moreover, I brought my computer due to a software problem, However, once I received the computer three days later, not only did the software problem still remain, but also the screen was flashing for a few seconds every two minutes.

I am looking to get this problem fixed ASAP. However, if you are unable to solve this issue, it will be enough just getting my money back as well as an apology from the staff member serving me that day.

I am a regular customer at your shop and I am writing to you as I am very disappointed with the service received this morning at the Paddington computer store.

To begin with, I went to the shop as I am having a few issues with the laptop that just got fixed a few days ago. I explained the problems that the computer still has, it is slow and it freezes every hour. Your staff contested saying that there was nothing he could do about it.

In addition, I have been a regular customer over the past decade, which makes it even more disappointing to receive such an unprofessional service from your new employee. The person at the counter was very rude and with a very bad attitude.

Furthermore, I need my laptop to be serviced within a few days as I have an exam coming up. Also, some actions have to be taken in regards to the customer service received today or I would not come back to your store again.
