  • what topics it would cover and how long it would take

  • who should participate in the presentation and where should it be conducted

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear.........,

Write at least 150 words.

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

This is the writing task 1 letter my Brazilian student had to answer yesterday at IDP Sydney. We practiced this task in class today and below is a sample answer by one of my other students. Thank you both for your contribution to this blog.

SAMPLE ANSWER: 179 words Band 6 to 6.5

Dear Frank,

How are you? I am writing to request that you give me a chance to express to my coworkers in our restaurant some new skills which I gained in a Master Workshop last week.

I took part in a special cooking lesson which was held by Chef Neil Perry. The lecture was regarding how we should create contemporary dishes and how chefs can build up originality. He is one of the most successful chefs in Australia, therefore, his presentation greatly motivated me for my future career. As a result, I will recount this essential factor to my colleagues.

In order to share this seminar with my peers and also the general manager and executive leaders if possible, I would like to invite them to our restaurant in Manly at 10 am next Monday. It will be about one hour to show and this will allow them to develop their confidence and help the restaurant.

I look forward to receiving your approval and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask me.

Yours sincerely,

Kenji
