Are teacher registration English requirements the same across Australia?
No. Each state and territory authority publishes its own evidence, test, validity and exception rules. Choose the jurisdiction where you want to teach and check its current official source.
What IELTS score is commonly required for teacher registration?
Many authorities publish IELTS Academic benchmarks of 8.0 in Speaking and Listening and 7.0 in Reading and Writing, sometimes with an overall or average 7.5. This is not a universal rule: check the relevant jurisdiction page.
Is AITSL the same as teacher registration?
No. AITSL conducts teacher skills assessments for skilled migration. A state or territory authority registers or accredits teachers to work in that jurisdiction.
Do all teacher registration authorities accept PTE Academic?
No. Do not assume a test accepted for a visa is accepted for teacher registration. The authorities covered here generally publish IELTS Academic and, in some jurisdictions, teacher-focused ISLPR pathways.
