Find the independent opening first, build reliable pairs from grammar and meaning clues, then check that the complete order develops logically.
Find the topic sentence: The opening usually stands alone and does not depend on a pronoun or linker referring backwards. Build strong pairs: Repeated nouns, reference words, cause and effect, and time markers reveal sentence connections.
The common mistake to avoid
Students often arrange paragraphs by topic alone and ignore opening sentences, reference words, chronology and strong sentence pairs.
