PTE Highlight Correct Summary is a listening and reading task. You have no separate limit to respond. The safest preparation is to understand the task rules, use a repeatable method and review the exact mistakes affecting your accuracy.
How PTE Highlight Correct Summary works
Prompt: Audio 30–90 seconds. Skills assessed: Listening and reading. Answer time: No separate limit.
Listen first and note key ideas, names, numbers and emphasis. Read the summaries after the recording. Select the one that best matches the message and important detail.
A practical preparation method
Listen and note the main message and development first. Compare the options afterwards and choose the summary that represents the whole recording.
Listen before reading options: Trying to process long options during audio can distract from the recording. Match your notes: Choose the option closest to the speaker’s overall message and structure, not a familiar phrase.
The common mistake to avoid
Students often read the options while the recording is playing and miss the structure, or choose a summary because it contains familiar keywords.
Practise a small number of attempts carefully, identify the repeated problem and correct that problem before increasing speed or volume.
What scoring information matters
Affects listening and reading. Audio plays once.
Use official scoring information to understand the task, but use teacher feedback to identify the language or delivery habit that needs attention next.
